Croydon: local health strategy beacon - case study

Croydon have established an effective cross sector partnership, the Healthy Croydon Partnership, which has built up commitment from health agencies, the council and voluntary sector and has assembled a shared vision and strategy for for health improvement in the borough.

Croydon has used a range of interventions to focus resources and attention on to measures to reduce health inequalities. Croydon has two health think-tank initiatives that operate on the two most deprived areas within the borough seeking to establish key issues and priorities for community health in those areas.

What was achieved?

One of the key outcomes has been the establishment and effectively functioning joint funded health support unit which facilitiates the implementation of the strategy set by the Healthy Croydon Partnership.
